The children of all servicemen and women killed on active service within the last 20 years will benefit from a higher education scholarship.

15:5173699barryw,what i mean by deliverd is that its acctully in working practice and not on a piece of goverment paper or faulty computer where things can and will get lost on purpose or not.

17:2973716good to see an election promise kept.
the top people's paper today interpreted comments made by dave and george to mean that the winter fuel allowance and free t.v.licence for the over 75's would be scrapped, will wait eagerly to see whether this promise will be kept.

20:1673752Another promise delivered:
From Friday cancer patients will begin to get access to drugs that NICE, has refused to approve on grounds of cost.
Announced by Andrew Lansley today and something close to my heart.

07:3273783Keith - Howard made an interesting point worth discussing so why should I attack him? I only attack regarding idiotic non-relevant comments such as the one you just made..
Yes, Howard - this was said in the election but targets are part of Labour's top-down management that distorts clinical priorities taking decision making away from the professionals. They were counter productive, no target for that = no priority. It did not stop Britain's survival rates of cancer being among the worse in Europe.
Due to my history Howard, cancer treatment is something I too feel strongly about.

13:1273813It's an excellent scheme Barry, but I think you missed the following small print at the bottom of the announcement:
"Implementation of these announcements is subject to the outcome of the Browne Review into Higher Education."
