70 of land in the UK owned by 1% of the population
No wonder we are all squeezed in to small plots of land ,and nobody can afford a house,

That is why we still have some countryside left...

So you think If more people owned the land more country side would be lost Barry ?
I think smaller family farms would have more competition, on food prices and verity
Unfortunately with mass migration expansion in to the green belt is unavoidable
House prices are to high this will only give us another crash as people borrower out of there income levels
Land will need to be made available to prevent over inflation. I don't like it but it is what it is

It is not only farms but also large country estates where the countryside is protected. The large grouse moors in Scotland are a prime example. We need the open space, we cannot just build all over the countryside, there has to be a limit. Another large land owner, on of the biggest, is the MOD and they do a lot of countryside conservation, The National Trust and English Heritage own large swathes too. Fewer immigrants and there would be enough houses and housing land without damaging the green belt.

Keith - 1/ Why do you think they are all Tory? it is not true -this is nothing to do with party affiliations - a bit of political bigotry coming across there. A lot will be UKIP incidentally, other will certainly support other parties too some pro-EU and some anti-EU. A lot of farmers are very anti-EU.
2/ If they are looking after the countryside and the law/EU provides payment for it then they would be utter fools not to apply for it. The laws may be wrong, or not....

To much tax avoidance from this group Barry, trust funds and things,
Your government not collaring this lot, expecting the people at the bottom to pay
Cannot keep pointing the finger at benefit scroungers Barry
And remember this 1 % stole the land from the British people in the first place

What tosh, again your own prejudices are in the way.
I set up trusts for clients all the time, for people with quite modest means to protect their assets from excessive tax. These are legal and even fall outside of any definition of aggressive tax avoidance. Who knows a trust might be a good idea for you, quite easily.... This is done actually to stop governments from collaring the lot so you seem very confused and mixed up there Keith.
Benefit scroungers are a totally different matter and totally unassociated with this.
We should be thankful that we live in a country where a government cannot just seize private assets where individuals and their freedom count.
High spending government and high taxation are the enemy here of everyone who wants to earn a crust aspiring to improve their lot and enjoy their property whether they are rich or poor.

You're all defending a robbing class that you do not , or ever will be a member of
In fact Barry maybe some of your gipsy ancestors maybe got the game keepers boot up there ass over the years, for parking the horse on this land ,,,Ooft my land
All this land was stolen from the British people.
Land tax would encourage the sale of this land to small farming business
Instead of the subside grabbing Norman gentry.Milking the system

Keith B - worrying about what others have and being envious are negative feeling that hold you back. I know lots of these people, advise some, dine with some, friends with some - they never have thoughts of superiority in the way you seem to have feelings of inferiority. I am what I am and they accept me for that and I accept them for what they are - that is far healthier than all that negativity. They stole nothing from the British people, they do not detract from your lifestyle either, they actually enhance it by giving you something to moan about!!! I am sure you would be a lot happier though if you developed a more positive attitude.

Barry as a Tory activist hoping one day to be invited to the club, I would expect nothing ells from you
The reality is 70% of the land is owned by the top 1%
And there paying very little from it.
