Thanks for the translations there Charlie, great stuff!
Ah yes..alas the shutters were down this morning up til 10 am or so when i passed so nothing to be done. I should have brought some of dem riotin'looters with me, they would have opened 'em up pretty fast!!
Good luck to the shop, hope there is a market for it.
I love Polish food. When I was a kidlet we lodged with a Polish doctor and his family (I wasn't veggie then....) and the food was marvellous, if a little, well, weighty! Wonderful comfort food, even now.

Bigos (hunters stew) and golapki (stuffed cabbage) are 2 polish dishes my wife and kids ask me to cook. Never as good as my Dads but pretty close. I think I once cooked it for a forum party at the ,now closed, 3 Links Club?????

Stuffed cabbage....mmmm....I am sure that was where I developed a proper taste for cabbage. People think it's dull, but it so isn't! So many ways to prepare and cook it. Of course, there are consequences........
Paprika stewed potatoes, bean stews....you have me going now!!

Well done with the picture there Howard, it is certainly a burst of colour for Market Sq. Hadnt seen that before. To tell you the truth didnt even know there was a new shop there until I saw the info here and ambled by yesterday. Very colourful, almost makes up for the removal of the image from the back of the big screen, and the loss of colour due to that. The residents didnt like it when they took the large colour banner away. The Market Sq is looking more buoyant than I remember it for a while..even the fountain is in full flow.

I bought my first colour tv in that shop when it was CIVIC, before that it was Murdochs selling brown goods and, wait for it, gramophone records. Artistes appearing at the Granada would often sign there records there. 78's of course. Later it was Our Price.
The manager of Murdochs, and CIVIC was Sid Godson. His son Peter worked at the Dover Express before moving to South Africa.
Halcyon days.

Just thought of a link. The cashier at Murdochs was Christine Mole, she used to live in the house now occupied by Croc!
