verty sad to see the ages of those that died in the workhouse, am i right in thinking it was on the buckland hospital site?

Yes, Buckland Hospital was the old Union Workhouse. The workhouses (or unions as they were called) took people from a number of parishes, i.e. Eastry Workhouse took people in from about 12 different parishes. Before the unions were built each parish would be responsible for maintaining its own poor.
