How much of the Crypt that is left is of any historical interest (not walked past it in years) I thought that the majority of it had gone in the fire.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Here's the English Heritage listing, describing the medieval undercroft with the c1840 building above destroyed by fire.

If you go to comments it says
"apparently the crypt is now gone, the team who demolished the pub/bar above smashed out the crypt, nothing left

Is this true?

My wife along with most of her family was working there on the night of the fire her dad was the cook and rest where the waiting staff and my wife done all the washing up,I had just come out of the Alma on Folkestone rd that night heading for the Crypt for a late meal when it went up.Some weeks later I boxed at the town hall to help get funds in for the fireman that got killed.
My wife also helped look after the famliy children at times but they all died that night she still talks about them at times even now very very sad.

Curiosity got the better of me and I went on the Land registry website to find the owner of The Crypt -
the basement under part of 10 Bench Street, Dover (CT161JH)
Registered Owner(s) : JAMES GODDEN of The Rotunda, The Seafront, Folkestone, Kent.
What are the chances he will be co-operating?

Mr Godden died as we all know I do not know if the family still are the owners still. But when he was Living he wanted to open it up again without the basement but was told he could only open if he used the basement again like the last time it was open.I think that is the true story but I could be wrong.
