Snow:

The snow has arrived in huge quantities. Very little traffic now moving on the main road. The Port of Calais is closed completely and there are trucks along Townwall Street, seemingly parked up with a look of permanancy on both sides of the carriageway, a total standstill, very unusual to see that...very little movement in any direction. Many roads are closed. As I write at 9.30am a gritter truck is the only thing moving down Jubilee Way, which looks to the observer like the proverbial skating rink. Not to be tackled by widows and orphans!

The picture above was taken while it was still dark...as a consequence it is a bit grainy, we have other pictures of the daylight variety but thought this one was worth displaying as its a tad different being night time, but just before dawn.

Have now added the picture on the left which shows the total traffic chaos along the main road. It is almost completely stuck, with trucks parked up both sides, as you can clearly see here, although every so often something moves this way or that. What can one say other than...oh dear!

And so the day ends...

We've gone from early morning to the sun sinking in the pictures, and it sure was an eventful day for Dover. The traffic is still struggling to get to Europe but it is nevertheless moving...moving slowly. The western direction of the main road here in central Dover is now entirely clear of backlog.

Although the light is going as I write, the whole seafront area is beautiful...the whiter than white cliffs make a stunning sight, and are glowing brilliantly as the dusk settles all around. Fascinating day.
