Shouldn't someone drop the hint that events like the one in the photo just above are a complete waste of time, money and resources?
Nobody?
Ok I'll tell them.
Did you know that demonstrations like the one so badly attended today by the usual suspects are a complete waste of time, money and resources.
There.

The demonstration was announced as being against low pay but was really about pay freezes in the public sector.
After all the major private sector employers are hardly like to pay much attention as few of their staff are union members.

Sorry but the hourly rate in the UK does not on the face of it seem to low I think it is the cost of living that is to high like Heating,Housing ,the cost of food is low if you shop in the right shops we need a lot of the part-time jobs to be full-time ones so all get a fair wage to live on.Rents are to high and there are alot of very poor landlords out there but council homes and housing trusts are fair if you can get one.
And that is what there is a great need for '1000s of new homes build for the public that need to rent because they do not have funds to buy one of their own, and some landlords need to be made to look after and keep the house,s they rent out in good repair, and in return the public that rent must be made to keep up with their rent repayments and look after the house or flat they are in.But again thats only my way of thinking.

Actually Vic. I agree with your posting.
All of the costs that are too high are in the private sector, but every one needs to make a profit - profit is not a dirty word but the driver for most if not all companies, it's when that profit becomes greed; the the landlords are the worst - high rents and many in a very poor state, but high rents are driven by supply and demand (in most cases). We have some in my ward I'm sure - I bet there are a number of cases of over-crowding too.
The cost of renting is about the same (or slightly more) than a mortgage, it's getting the deposit that's the problem.

Very droll Martin, puts me in mind of when Tommy Docherty was managing a struggling team and announced that "the chairman was right behind him", the retort was that he wanted him in front so he could see what he was up to.

Charlie told me he couldn't get hold of a ticket. But I think following his recent exchange of views with the club he would have been as welcome as a pork chop at a bar mitzvah.

I have not heard a bad word about Clair. she is young and will learn as she goes along, the manner in which she was selected will be a millstone nearer election day as her opponents will doubtless play on it.
