Couldn't disagree more, Howard. It wasn't a fascinating debate but posturing from the usual suspects. The only lady who did well was Sturgeon. Farage performed to type and did it well.
Easy, comfortable questions they rehearse every week at their respective mutual admiration societies. No mention of crime, defence, our place in the world, egregious environmental policies etc. etc.
They were in their comfort zone.
The only thing most sensible people learned tonight was that a vote for Miliband is a vote for an unreconstructed crypto-communist puppet whose strings are being dangled by even more extreme, faceless lefties. But He's a class warrior in the vein of an SWP paper seller you see at demos during the sunny demonstration season marching against all the usual anti-cap issues they hold dear.
You have to laugh at him. Utterly clueless about the real world.

Various snap polls come up with different winners making the outcome of the election even more unpredictable. Looking more and more like there will be another cobbled together government.

I hope not Howard.
I thought Nicola Sturgeon was very good and I didn't like her much at all before the program; I can see why the SNP will do well under her leadership.
I didn't like/agree much of what the Green Lady had to say.
Ed kept on the same old theme and not convincingly; Nigel I thought was good and gave some good arguments that should have been Conservative policies and Dave had a pretty good record on the economy etc. to play on.

My take was Dave & his team got exactly what they wanted out of it.
He kept calm & on message.
He let the others deal with Ed M. & boy did they do it effectively.
Showed exactly how into hock Ed M would be to Scot Nats & Plaid.
Nicola S far more effective than Salmond & she won't even be at Westminster.
Green performed above expectations after radio "car crash". They'll be lucky to hold on to Caroline Lucas seat after their local government performance in Brighton.
Clegg skewered Ed M but really had no strategy other than beg for place at the table.
Farage played Farage well but I reckon his HIV strategy will back fire on him.

Everyone seems to agree that Nicola Sturgeon gave the best performance, I thought Cleggy looked desperate as his seat is under threat. Farage didn't try to win anybody over, preferring to tell his core support what they wanted to hear. So long as immigration is the answer to every question they are happy.

The host was very good in my view Brian, no idea who she was. We seem fairly certain to have a coalition government now and all the permutations going around include the yellows, UKIP, SNP, Plaid Cymru and the Ulster parties. I can see Ed forming a government with the minor parties but I think the slight favourite is Dave and Nick carrying on providing the yellows keep about half of their MP's. By all accounts this is what Dave is hoping for, it means that he won't be allowed to slash public spending as planned and make any future blue governments unlikely. Added to that he has an excuse to cancel the planned EU referendum as part of the deal.

Got two more leaflets today, one each from the Reds and Blues. The one claim that stood out a mile was the "delivery of a people's port"!!
My understanding is that the Harbour Revision order from DHB will make it anything but a people's port.

That's DRAFT Harbour Revision Order, Howard. It becomes law over my dead body.

I don't share your optimism Peter I think the Department for Transport have had enough of the port issue now and go for the simplest option. The timing was perfect from DHB as there will be over 4 years till an election once the decision is made.

Just seen a photo on social media of Charlie and his team of canvassers photographed at the junction of Clarendon Place and Malvern Road. Photos of the bus protesters were shown in both local newspapers at that junction.
Considering that Charlie refused to give support to the bus protesters the whole thing comes across as a bit of a cheek.

#134, Howard, DPPT is keeping the issue alive despite DHB attempting to smuggle an amended HRO through under cover of darkness. Watch this space.

I didn't know Charlie refused to support the bus-protesters Howard. Was he actually asked and did he actually refuse, or is this a supposition ?
I don't think there was anything behind the location of the photo, in fact I'm sure of it.

He was definitely invited Roger but replied that it was not within his remit.

Basically he didn't see how his input could change matters, the county, district and town councillors involved are quite capable of fighting their corner.

O.K. Thank You Howard.
Us District Councillors were also advised that it was outside our remit and we were kept up to date as a courtesy.
I don't know whether our presence (Peter's and mine) at the meeting helped, or the emails I'd written to KCC and Stagecoach, but with the trial of the new route showing to be successful, it means the bus service has been saved.
I hope Labour don't say in their election paper(s) that they saved the bus-service, cos it aint true.
