22:2776164I see the set of toilets near the Premier Inn are closed with site fencing all round them, any one know why they have been closed? Is it just for a clean up/refurb or is this something more permanent?
now there are no toilets open on the sea front as the set opposite the Sea Sports Centre are only open from April to September.

22:3276167the ones opposite the sea sports centre are closed permanently despite what it says outside.
i suspect that the ones near the the hotel are being refurbished in line with the shelters.

06:2376186Ross yes the toilets have been out of action this week. Guys moved in with a number of vehicles, fenced it off, so by the looks of the amount of vehicles and the general cordoning off effort, it looks like something major happening. But I take it they wont be closing ( think of the kerfaffle!) so its surely a refurbishment.
Interestingly, just last week...I saw two guys with bicycles on the beach just 50 yards away from these loos, merrily releaving themselves against the beach wall. Couldnt be bothered walking the 50 paces to the loo I guess. There's just no respect anymore.

16:5879832So here we are 20 days on from my post and the toilets are still closed, this is a tad more than just redecorating.
Any one from the council care to tell us
a) where people are meant to go if they are caught short on the seafront
b) when they will reopen

17:2579844They were in abad state and needed alot done to them, I think that is why it is taking some time to do them, and they would need to put heaters in there first to dry them out before any painting could be done and again the same heaters would have to say on again after the paint work had been done.

08:5179891There doesnt appear to be any activity at all here. I presume we are still talking about the ones across the road from Millers. The workforce..well they came they launched they ..ermm failed to conquer.
A great flurry of activity initially with metal barriers erected all round...building trucks and personell rushing hither and tither. But to my amazement the next day all this was taken away and they vanished. It seemed rather quick but I figured they had done what they came to do...but it was a very shortlived bout of activity.
I didnt realise they were still closed.

http://www.dover-express.co.uk/East-Cliff-toilets-open-20p/story-20999317-detail/story.html
TOILETS at East Cliff can now be used by the public - for 20p a time - following an official opening last week.
The mayor of Dover and Port chief Tim Waggott helped cut the ribbon of the new Pebbles kiosk and refurbished toilets on the promenade last Thursday.
Pebbles say the store "sells everything you would expect to find in a traditional sea front shop from ice-creams to Dover souvenirs".
The refurbished public toilets, which cost £90,000, are the result of an agreement between Dover District Council, Dover Town Council and the Port of Dover, with the final decision made by the Labour-run town council.
Pebbles director Cllr Sue Jones, as revealed in Express, last year "misdirected" fellow councillors after failing to declare an interest when she chaired the committee overseeing the toilets' revamp.
But Cllr Jones won the bid a second time after an extraordinary council meeting ordered the toilets to be retendered.
Other options included an American-style diner and a Channel Swimmers lockers block.
Cllr Jones said: "It has been a long and challenging road to get to this stage but we knew how keen locals were to see the new facilities open and hope we can meet their expectations.
"This is very much a community facility as well as something we can be proud our visitors will experience."
The facilities will be open every day from April to October from 10am until late afternoon, with extended evenings during busy times.
(Isn't there a more recent thread somewhere?)
