As pot-holes go, that is certainly a biggie.

All road-works have been scheduled for months, nothing to do with elections in May. Would you rather they be delayed until afterwards, or not done at all ?

Elections have been scheduled for years, Roger. And of course it's the officers who decide how, when and where to implement policy decisions, so such things could never, ever be political.

Isn't it always at the end of the financial year and there's a rush to spend any available money?

I think Karlos might have something there.

I put a posting on here some time ago about "Find it and Fix it, for pot-holes, giving the telephne number and website address and that is all the way through 2013; it doesn't end after the May elections.

Here's another one, but I saw Kent Highways vehicles up there yesterday:
Urgent Road Closure - Malvern Road, Dover - 25 March 2013 (Dover)
It will be necessary to close Malvern Road, Dover from 25 March 2013 for up to 4 days.
The road will be closed between the junctions of Folkestone Road and Clarendon Road.
The alternative route is via Folkestone Road and Clarendon Road.
This is to enable urgent highway repairs to be carried out by Kent County Council.

I thought the buses would go up Clarendon Road and along Cl. Place - is that not the case Howard ?

no roger, the buses are too long to take the bend at the top, regent hel trials before taking over the service. depending on who the driver is clarendon place can go days without a bus anyway.

I hope nobody manages to hit the rail bridge in Coombe Valley Road that will cause chaos.
