CALAIS - UPDATE
MY FERRY LINK - INDUSTRIAL ACTION
The My Ferry Link (MFL) strike action has escaled and the Port is now been closed.
P & O have reported their ferries are able to enter Calais.
Traffic diverting to Eurotunnel will likely have to queue.
No information yet as to whether Operation Stack will be invoked, but as the situation develops Dover TAP will likely be put into operation.
There is no indication as to how long this situation will continue.

DOVER - CALAIS - UPDATE
Dover TAP is now in place.
Operation Stack Phases 1 & 2 are currently stated as 'Probable'.
P & O Ferries services are suspended for the time being.
DFDS are still operating Dover/Dunkirk. Give extra time for your journey and passport controls as there is a high volume of traffic trying to use this service.
Eurotunnel is operating, but we've not been advised as yet if there are any extra trains being scheduled. Expect high demand for the service.

if you are taking your car along the seafront use the exit by the gateway flats for York street roundabout.

As I came out of Dover this morning, traffic was starting to queue on the Jubilee Way coming down the hill. A number of lorries parked in the escape lanes and partially out into the downhill lane causing a partial obstruction plus lorries that had reached the bottom being redirected by PoD Police.

OP STACK UPDATE
The latest situation is as follows;
a. Op STACK Phase 2 is about to become full.
b. Phase 3 will be invoked in the next few hours. This has not been done before.
c. This means that no operator should expect to make progress out of the UK via Kent for some time.
d. The My Ferry workers strike shows no signs of ending.
e. Some ferries have been operating to Dunkerque, and one to Boulogne, although for disembarkation only
f. This is likely to end soon as strikers are on their way to Dunkerque.
g. Other ferry routes are available but at much reduced frequencies and many are booked up for the next 24 hours at least.
h. Kent Country Council is organising water for truck drivers already in the queues.
The facts above suggest that planning to transport goods will only get one as far as the South of England.

Coming back from Folkestone about 10 minutes ago trucks were actually on the roundabout at Capel B2011 and the queues were visible from the ground. Good to see KCC organising water, must be desperately required.

Will it have been unloaded before the strikers get there?
I would think that link to Zeebrugge needs to be re-opened, longer travel time, but avoiding France.

I thought the strikers were heading for Dunkirk, the ferry unloaded in Boulogne about an hour ago I believe.
The main problem as I see it is that Dover and Calais are too far from their respective capital cities to be of interest and the all powerful EU is simply not bothered.

All P&o ships have been to Boulogne at least once during the afternoon. The France, Burgundy and Canterbury are all within a few miles of Boulogne as I write and the Kent has just berthed back in Dover having come from there. The Britain looks about to sail.

I feel sure the French authorities could charge that rogue union leader with some sort of civil disruption offence, his utterances make it clear that he doesn't care what happens to the people affected by his actions. Besides these are wildcat strikes with no secret ballot of the members.
