We checked in just after 0630 for the 0735 p&o sailing, were given boarding passes for the 0420! and eventually threw in the towel at a quarter to ten. Managed to extricate ourselves from lane 196 and exit the docks. Costa and Burger King doing a roaring trade holding passengers to ransom with average coffee prices over £3 a pop.

I hope you advised P&O you were leaving Peter. Unfortunately as with all ports and motorway services in the UK prices are higher for coffees etc.

Eurotunnel is currently suspended because of French port workers on their tracks.

These are the trucks being checked as they come down Jubilee Way...checked and then it appears ..sent to the back of the overall queue. I'm not entirely sure how it works generally but this Jubilee route does not appear to gain easier access. Tiresome job for those tirelessly checking.
The image below was shown on the BBC news earlier. Calais in Chaos...a tough day for all travellers for sure.

My Ferry protesters by starting fires on the road to the port and in the tunnel have done themselves no justice at all. I cannot see DFDS employing staff with a track record like that.
I wonder how many migrants managed to boards trucks today amidst the chaos.

The deputy Mayor threatening to block the Port and tunnel in the very near future!!
The EU have helped to exacerbate the problem with their "no borders" policy in the Schengen agreement and leave the small towns of Dover and more so Calais to suffer. More and more loads of produce are being rejected because of contamination by stowaways which will inevitably lead to higher prices in the shops. The French are right in that the migrants are attracted to the UK by economic gain although the fact that one needs an identity card in France turns them off staying there.

Yes Brian. It was also there at 6.30 this morning. According to the Marine Traffic website it has only just sailed in the last few minutes.

Had an email from the RHA at work:-
CALAIS-UPDATE
MY FERRY LINK - INDUSTRIAL ACTION
Industrial action is reported to be taking place again by My Ferry Link staff in Calais. It's not clear if this action will cause as many problems as last week.
EUROTUNNEL
Following significant disturbances with migrants overnight leading to a disrupted timetable and delays, we are currently experiencing waiting time. Furthermore, we have been advised of strike action at the Port of Calais which indicates that today will be a difficult day for cross Channel traffic.
In addition, as work on the Eurotunnel expansion continues they advise the following:-
To be able to complete some of the large scale works, there will be the following closure.
The access road to Eurotunnel from the A20 will be temporarily closed from Monday 29th June for up to 7 weeks. During this time, all traffic will be redirected to the M20 so that your drivers can rejoin the terminal accordingly. These diversions will be clearly signposted.
Please note that the main flow of traffic accessing the Eurotunnel terminal from junction 11a off the M20 motorway will not be affected.
