20 miles to be done tomorrow morning, the last of my long runs before the 3 week countdown. I shall be doing a tour of the Thanet coast from Pegwell Bay, down to Ramsgate Harbour, up through the George VI memorial park, along Viking Bay, past the North Foreland lighthouse, Joss Bay, Captain Digby's, the Fayreness Hotel at Botany Bay, past the Bethesda Medical Centre at Palm Bay, reaching the Lido at Cliftonville, and then all the way back again. It looks like the weather will be close to ideal, bright but cool.
Fundraising is still going well. I am now up to £1724 and hoping to reach my £2000 target in the next 3 weeks before the marathon. If you were thinking of donating or entering my sweepstake to guess my finish time and just hadn't got round to it yet, it would give me and my grandmother a wonderful boost to hit my target going into the marathon. Then the charity walk on 5th May will bring in even more so I can smash it and give all important extra funding for such a great cause.
Here are some interesting facts if you want to know where your money would go....
£5 could help to provide 15 people with crucial leaflets like 'Communication problems after stroke' which help people to come to terms with the profound difference to their lives after stroke.
£10 can go to purchasing large-handled cutlery specifically designed for use by people after stroke.
£20 could help the National Stroke Helpline team to give life-changing advice to a caller struggling to cope after the trauma of stroke.
£50 could help ensure the Stroke Association continue to invest in vital stroke research. The research they fund helps the medical profession to understand more about the causes of stroke, pioneering treatment for stroke patients and innovative stroke rehabilitation equipment.
£150 can help provide a life changing Life After Stroke Grant to a person affected by stroke. It can help them buy a ramp so they can access their home more easily and be able to live a more independent life.
