The keenest fans will have gone to Altrincham yesterday, I know of several. So they would have been unable to queue at all.

Pubs with BT sport should make a killing on the day, not many homes have it.

Which pubs in the Dover area have BT sport? Is it possible to buy a subscription match by match? It would be great if someone could book the town hall or some other large venue and show the match on a big screen.

I am lucky I do have BT sports and do not mind if one or two wish to come round and watch the match.

Stories going the rounds of tickets for the tie being offered for sale on Facebook for £100 each, time for the club to put its hands up and admit that the 4 tickets per person idea was inane in the extreme.
Won't hold my breath the club seems more interested in making a killing than being fair to the supporters that have stood on wet and windy terraces watching rubbish football in the past.

Only a few times Martin the last was 2/3 years back, Ryman premier league I believe. It was definitely football for life long fans and not casual observers.
I saw the match against Oxford soon after I moved here, I waited until it was obvious that all supporters had tickets before I bought mine, the ground was about two thirds full.

The vast majority of the criticism directed at the club over this issue is completely unfair. Whatever the club do will be wrong in some people's eyes. It's easy to say that selling 4 tickets per person is too much, but what about the father who takes his two children to every home game? How is he supposed to choose which one to take if he only has one spare ticket. Do you think he'll be happy with those arrangements? There is no way the club can win. What yesterday proved was that there are thousands of people in this town who show little or no interest in our club for 99.9% of the time, yet come flocking when they get a sniff of the Premier League coming to town. If a few of these bothered to turn up for our league games, perhaps the chairman wouldn't have to keep putting his hands into his pocket so often. But then again, according to Howard, the club are only interested in making a killing. What utter nonsense.

Wouldn't he take his kids with him to get the tickets?
I and a lot of others would go to regular matches but have you had a look out there lately, we're all bloody skint!
The special occasions are the time to make the extra effort and stretch the piggy bank. Does not then help that the prices are hiked and they sell every Tom, Dick and Harry 4 tickets.
I'm with Howard on this one.

I am not one of the best supporters but on saying that I have been supporting Dover off and on from the late 1940s .I am not having ago because I did not get a ticket but how can a person like myself over 70 years old get one ? I do think that Two tickets max /would have been fair, anyway if any person has one and cannot go please I would like to buy it. Thank you.

Well I suppose he could take his kids with him. After all, I can't think of anything an 11 year old would rather do than queue up for 4 hours from 5am on a cold Saturday morning.
I'm not saying the arrangements have been perfect. There are certainly one or two things I would have done differently, but there is no way to please everyone, and absolutely no way to ensure that tickets go to "deserving" fans first. What I won't do is criticise the club for doing their best, when I have yet to hear anybody come up with the perfect way to sell these tickets. Whatever the club do, they will upset someone.
What is most important is that the DAFC make the most of this opportunity to strengthen the clubs finances. If that means increasing the prices for this game, I absolutely welcome it. If these extra fans are only going to roll up for the highest profile games, I would hope the club makes as much out of them as they possibly can. It is, after all, the regular fans who will see the benefits of this windfall.
What irritates me is the amount of negativity surrounding the club at a time that there is so much to be positive about. I look forward to Boxing Day, when the tickets will finally get sold and some of us can concentrate on supporting our local football team again. And I don't just mean against Palace.

I have not read anything negative about the club itself except about the way they have handled the ticket sales which for many appears to have been wrong, regular supporters should have had priority over anyone else. There were always going to be moans about the tickets as I said in my earlier post because nothing is ever perfect.

The difficulty is how (apart from season ticket holders) do you differentiate the regular supporters? I think first come, first served is fair, but still think four tickets per person is a lot when there are so few to go round. You will have to be a keen supporter to queue for tickets from early on Boxing Day until they go on sale at 11 and then spend up to four hours in the ground before kick off. I am not sure I am up for it. As someone who watches only a couple of games a season I probably shouldn't push myself forward anyway.

Back to football it was good to see Dover got a draw on Saturday away from home. This must be the best run of forum they have ever had for many a year
.
And I hold my hand up and say a very big sorry to the manger because I was one of the ones asking for his head some months ago and how wrong I was

I thought you was perhaps a disillusioned ex fan who has an axe to grind with the club, you certainly seem wound up by the ticketing problems?

Certainly am wound up when reading that tickets are already in the hands of profiteers and regular supporters are denied the chance to see the biggest game ever at Crabble. I saw Keef on Saturday who rarely misses a game and goes to many away matches and he lost out.

Totally new ground for the club, there are a thousand on sale boxing day to facilitate those who are going to the match and missed out Saturday. No win situation for the organisers trying to please everybody. Hope Keith gets to the game.
