Re post #53
Good question Tom and I hope that I have understood correctly what you are saying! If so, I would say that perhaps "happiness" is subjective? You may well be right in your possible assertion that our own people were not particularly happy anyway prior to being conned into mistakingly voting for political union instead of the assumed european trade deal. ( I wonder why the Heath government didn`t explain that at the time? )
But I for one will be happy in that when we leave the EU we no longer have to support another level of bureaucracy at a cost of fifty million quid a day or whatever the latest figure is.
I will also be happy that we as a country can determine our own future, adopt our own rules and regulations moreso and not be restricted in doing so by unelected foreign officials. At least if our own government subsequently introduces laws etc., that are not to the benefit of our own people or are for whatever reason unpopular then we have the option to vote them out at the next election. That`s democracy in our own hands, something that we do not have the option to do at the moment with our law makers in Brussels.
To a certain extent I agree that after leaving the EU it may not initially all be a bed of roses, but I`m pretty sure that it`s got to be a damn sight better than the situation that we have at present. In a few years time we will both know of course!
Brian.........I`m sure that it won`t take long to convert you, it won`t hurt!
