  charlie falls down right at the beginning with the burlington house issue, he must know about the masts and problem related.
  
  many of us have written to hmrc about this and they have replied that they cannot charge business rats as the building does not exist.
  
  perhaps watty might like to invite charlie to his office and go through a few things before the latter makes more basic errors?

  Charlie has been at the front of the People's Port since its inception; he knows all about B.H.; he has meetings with PaulW so know what's going on - DDC-wise; the Chairman of the Dover and Deal Conservatives is a District Councillor; the Walmer office keep in close touch, so I cannot think this came direct from Charlie.

  But all he has done over the pass four years is jump on the bandwagon of others and then his party puts out to the public and press etc your MP has worked to get this done and that done,but infact all he has done is put his name to a project that has been going on even before he came Dovers MP, and the public are now waking up to that fact.
  He is even turning now on the blues,which is his own party and the District council,because he knows the public are up in arms over what is not been done in Dover,and by doing that he is hoping he will get back the support he needs to get back in power again next year.Nothing as been done in our Town for over 40years now,and nothing has been done from day one after he became the district MP,so what has he done up till now about it,?one word nothing.

  Central Government is where the problems lie, so says the Local Government Association...
  
  "Attempts to get more than a million young people into work are being hampered by excessive bureaucracy and central government control, council leaders have claimed.
  The Local Government Association (LGA) says a new, more local approach to tackling youth unemployment could reduce the number of young jobless people by a fifth.
  In a report it complains of an "overly complicated" system of tackling youth unemployment, with 33 different national schemes covering 13 different age boundaries and costing £15bn a year.
  The report says more than 94,000 people completed hair and beauty courses last year, even though there were only 18,000 new jobs in the sector.
  By contrast, just 123,000 people were trained for around 275,000 advertised jobs in construction - more than two vacancies for every qualified person, said the LGA.
  David Simmonds of the LGA, said: "Youth unemployment is a worrying trend for us all, particularly long-term youth unemployment which has doubled since 2008 and continues to grow.
  "All the evidence in this report points to the success that local organisations, such as councils, businesses and education providers, can achieve when working together... but this is being hampered by successive centrally-driven government approaches."
  He added: "Councils are in a unique position and can play a pivotal role in identifying young people that are likely to slip into periods of long-term unemployment.
  "But we need to be given the powers to prevent this happening and help equip future jobseekers with the skills, confidence and real-life experience they need to find work in their area."
  The LGA said councils should be the main commissioners of employment programmes aimed at young people, not central government."

  Tom's post 17 is a good one in that work-experience and apprenticeships should be worked out locally with local youngsters and local companies.
  The original work-experience scheme that I worked on for the Channel Chamber of Commerce and LSBC could have been even more successful than it was, if it hadn't of stopped when it did because the funding stopped too.
  I was asked to find around 30 work-experience jobs for the young people and found almost 100, but again, they were let down by big organisations and Government(s).
  
  I also believe that there should be some way that when we have a good sized application (number of housing etc.), that the developers take on a number of apprenticeships - afterall, places like Whitfield is a 20 plus years program; Sholden will take a while too, so quite a few young people could learn many skills allied to the building trade.
  
  I don't know if this could be made law, or part of the (planning) conditions, but certainly develpers should be encouraged to do this.
