Since large companies run circles round the systems for taxation set up by our elected representatives by exploiting 'loopholes' in the legislation, one should hardly be shocked when the parties themselves seek to exploit inadequacies in the very electoral law which they themselves have passed to supposedly limit election expenditure.

Election law relating to expenditure was badly drafted as the parties knew full well when drafting it - leaving the borderline between constituency spending and central office spending a gray area, open to 'interpretation', which we may well see played out in the courts, with the usual suspects no doubt claiming that any 'mistakes' were due to them not understanding the very rules they had written!

    Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
