It is unrealistic to provide free healthcare/hospital treatment, to everyone. Too many people from overseas are coming here for free operations and that is unsustainable.
There would be less of a problem if it was NOT available to all these overseas people. I do agree that more home-grown recruitment should be encouraged and I don't know why there isn't enough nurses or people wanting to go into nursing.
Maybe it is quicker to bring trained nurses here (mostly from outside the EU) than train them ourselves.

roger, its quite easy to blame the migrats for the nhs problem [they get blamed for every thing these days] but don't you think that the present government has to take 75% of the blame for the nhs's shortfall in cash.

If you're comments are a genuine concern Brian perhaps we should all be paying more to enable whichever Party is in Government to provide the extra funds it needs?

bob, they are genuine.dont you think we pay enough taxs and nat/insurance to cover the nhs and pensions.it would be nice to see this government and the next putting the proper money back into both.
and besides with the loss of so many nhs trained nurses due to cut backs, they are bringing in agency nurses at high cost [1 agency nurse is getting 2 nurses pay] and to compensate they are having to bring in migrant nurses from the third world.

The cost of a "14-exit" monthly permit for Glasgow Royal Infirmary's (GRI) car park has risen from £42 to £89.50.
Glasgow nurses could now face the sack for parking without permits at the hospitals where they work. The dismissal threat comes after bosses at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said that they would take tough measures against nurses who do not pay £40 parking fines issued for their vehicles on hospital premises where they are working.
Lorraine Bell has been threatened with debt collectors and NHS disciplinary action over a £40 ticket from Glasgow's Western Infirmary.
Nurses and health workers protested today over a proposed hike in hospital car parking charges at Springfield Hospital.
The action was in response to the hospital, based in Glenburnie Road, Tooting, proposal to impose a charge of £40 a month for staff and patients relatives
Lots more where these came from all disgraceful..
Do MP's pay parking or bankers, perhaps?
That's not jealousy, honestly guv

Person before purse.
Oh dear what can the matter be
two ladies residing near to me
each suffered from a locked-knee
one with the NHS
one who went privately
the first got no op straight away
the other, dealt with that very day
The first, first had to have physio
and was informed that post-op
all kneeling would have to stop
later, in a day she was in and out
now all better, recovered, up and about
The poor other, oh, deary-deary me
was whisked in and out most efficiently
no forewarning no physiotherapy
with stick and cursing she's there for all to see
crying;poor knee, poor me, poor knee!

I wonder if the bosses and the consultants just happen to have reserved parking places and do not have to pay to park.

Not necessarily so in all organisations - I worked at Univ of Kent, the cost of an annual parking permit there is related to salary bands, those earning most pay most.

Very socialist, Ray, why not just charge more for a Mercedes than for a Vauxhall? Surely a space is a space?

No, they don't in my experience but the public transport in London is available 24/7 and is used by most of us.
As for the comments on the failing NHS, there are too many non urgent cases turning up at A&E, if this was addressed things might change and there would be less whingeing from the 'barrack room lawyers!' :rolley
