What ever happens in May, DDC cannot introduce a research academy on the Pfizer site - how much power do you think DDC have Alexander ? They are already pressing for a maritime academy and much is being done behind the scenes.
New businesses in the field of science and research are more likely to migrate there as it is already set up for that.
The present DDC Leader was in at the beginning of the task force and actually set up (with the MP) the meetings with Government Ministers, if it had been left for any length of time, it would have remained a local issue.
Vic. just one question, if UKIP is still your preferred party and you have stated some of their manifesto aims here, why are you not standing for UKIP at District, rather than as an individual ?
Bringing decision-making to local people is the main thrust of the Localism Bill and the Big Society and UKIP suppport that because it says so above - power to local people on planning matters, although I'm not convinced that would be good as it would expand the Nimbyism that is so prevalent every where and stops some good development - we'd go backwards in so many ways.
