    I think your right Howard, more a case of Goldsmith being so unpopular people voted against him.

    It appears the Lib Dems had a power base in the area which they built upon
    The Lib Dems were badly damaged by going in with the tories and some unkept promises.

    This will take time to correct.

    It has to be added the Tories(in a strong Tory area) gave Goldsmith a clear run.
    with the labour vote collapse.
    Is it me or do others feel the Lib Dem leader has been missing for some time?
    It was a good result for the Lib dems but its how this carries across the country.
