As for the Syrian 'refugees' thank God the Russians didn't all up sticks and leave when Hitler started Operation Barbarossa or we'd all be speaking German now! Instead they stayed and fought and loads of men, women and children died. It's not nice but it's what happens in wars.
Not that all the refugees are Syrian anyway:-
Afghans, Iraqis and even Pakistanis are making up almost half the number.
In the first two cases our adventures in Afghanistan cost Britain at least £37bn and Iraq £4.5bn and 456 and 179 UK lives.
The facts are that whilst neither country is going to be a holiday destination in the near future we have spent a load of blood and treasure making both of those countries a damn sight better to live in than they were twenty years ago.
As for the Pakistan claimants what's happening here? We haven't even bombed them (though I must say I'm warming up to the idea!)
