A case of playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the correct order?
Interestingly, if you got an infinite number of monkeys to cut and paste ......

For those who are unfamiliar with Private Eye magazine there is a bit called "Pseuds' Corner", this thread is now living up to it.

I am watching the live BBC report (9.35) which showed the protesters walking down the ChampsElysees in a totally peaceful way, a very short mention of trouble.
Interesting the way reporters choose to show what is happening in Paris, I guess it all depends on their editors prejudices.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Judging by the large number of arrests earlier my guess is that the police have been studying cctv footage from previous demonstrations and lifted the troublemakers, leaving others to protest lawfully.

Pre-emptive strike. 300+ arrests + Metro and RER closed. **
To get idea of scale of this imagine if Mayor of London had closed down Tube + overground system + mass arrests!
** 481 arrests and 211 in custody as of 10.00 BST.
Meanwhile:-
Trumpton @Trump_ton
The French civil unrest appears to be leaking across the channel. I've just seen a bunch of young men in yellow gilets wantantly damaging a road by digging a hole in it.

It appears there are fewer people protesting than last weekend, probably those opposed to violence had second thoughts.

How will the protesters get home from the centre of Paris to their homes in the suburbs with no ublic transport? To walk from the centre of London to the outskirts would probably take between 3 and 5 hours which is a bit much after a hard day's rioting.

Not to be too pseudish about it, but Paris is a small place, and it's pretty easy to get about on foot, especially if you start at la rive gauche. Now where are those monkeys...?

This is why they are protesting:-
The OECD's annual Revenue Statistics report found that the tax-to-GDP ratio in France increased by 0.7 percentage points, from 45.5% in 2016 to 46.2% in 2017.
The tax-to-GDP ratio in the United Kingdom has increased from 32.9% in 2000 to 33.3% in 2017.

It must continue now that Macron has started making concessions thus telling the protestors that violence pays off.

Exactly but as a nation they never have stood up to anything they usually give in to mob rule.

The latest is that the union who represent the French police want their members to support the yellow jacketed coves. All together now "Ted can't hear you".
