Given that she wasn't as well-known in 2019, it could be that Getting Brexit Done had something to do with electing her.

Given how strong the anti EU feeling was by many in this area and others a monkey would have been elected, a shame so many fail to appreciate this was the main reason.

I wish someone would explain to me how we have benefited from it.

Me too!! Dover voted almost overwhelmingly to leave the EU. How well informed was the electorate? How very easily fooled by promises that could never be fulfilled and making people frightened of immigrants . The country is definitely not better off and I doubt I’ll see any benefits in my lifetime.

47.53% of the electorate so far as I'm aware.

My apologies if I got the figures wrong but I thought it was a higher proportion than that.

The same point can be made about any election, it doesn’t change the fact that the majority who chose to vote, voted to leave the EU.

So ,if it's. Correct she. Was elected purely because of brexit then she shoujd win easily .
I think it was more than that .
Labour had a poor candidate who didn't connect with the people .
People voted to keep Corbyn out
More the reasons
Now Starmer kicked out the lady who argued with him in Liverpool all helping to put our Naterlie back in for another five years

In breaking news, former Mordaunt supporter Mrs Elphicke is backing the MP for South West Norfolk to become PM because "Having assessed both candidates and their plans, I believe that Liz Truss offers the most credible plan to stop damaging illegal immigration, and can be trusted to deliver on her promises."
Mrs E concludes: "This is not just robust talk, but a robust plan for tackling the small boats crisis. And it is Conservative to its very core. A nation is defined, at least in part, by its borders.
As Conservatives, we believe passionately in the good that sovereign nation states, who have autonomy over their borders, can do. This was a key motivation for Brexit, and the best way for us to play our role in the world. It is also compassionately Conservative."

What's not to like? And, bonus, Mrs Truss would appoint a dedicated government Minister to have oversight of Britain’s Border Force. (Just sorry I missed the Elphickes in 2016 with their 'Do Good - Vote Leave' placard.)

Shows how far away she is from reality .
Iv seen one leadership debate (if that's what you call it) and I have to say I agree with Ms Truss who twice said she isn't very good at these TV debates .
And she's the favourite!

"Pleased to attend a @10DowningStreet roundtable on ending the small boats crossings with Prime Minister @RishiSunak today where he set out his determination to tackle the problem of illegal immigration across the Channel."
Not what I would call round actually, I'm sure a circle shouldn't have those pointy bits.

Much less funny is the BBC report that Mrs E received 9.5% of all toxic tweets received by MPs (excluding MPs who received less than 1,000) between 15 March 2022 and 23 April, being exceeded by only 3 others.

Why more use isn't made of the Malicious Communications Act 1988 (

I wonder how many of those nasty tweets were justified, surely a good popular local MP would not get many. It might be a good idea for the local party and Natalie to investigate why there were so many.
Having said that it must not be horrible to be on the receiving end.
