About the only freebie a politician won't accept is the free question.
Much better the rehearsed question and the rehearsed answer.

Only just noticed that Mr Tapp has been Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Migration and Citizenship since 6 September. No doubt that keeps him busy smashing the boats and stopping the gangs, sort of thing.

My apologies; I now realise that the Minister's responsibilities are:
- Immigration Rules
- Border Force operations
- earned settlement and citizenship reform
- nationality
- Windrush and the Windrush Compensation Scheme
- movement of goods across the border
- UK Visas and Immigration, HM Passport Office and EU Settlement Scheme, General Register Office
- oversight of existing safe routes schemes: Ukraine Family Scheme, Homes for Ukraine Scheme, Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme, Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy, Hong Kong British Nationals (Overseas), Gaza and Israel
- Future Borders and Immigration System and digital transformation.
So he has to delegate any smashing of boats. The BBC today quoted him as saying "I hate what these, you know, hairdressers, nail bars and dodgy vape shops are doing to, so many of our high streets, not just for the look and feel of them, but also for those genuine businesses that are being undercut. So it's really important that we continue to work hard to combat this." Of course, being the BBC, it's possible that Mr Tapp said those words in a different order, although genuine hairdressers being undercut is something that we can all agree needs combatting.
