quite a mixed message in the results so far with the reds vote up on last time but not enough to win a general election.
ukip caused problems to both the main parties resulting in councils either changing hands or in overall control.
the ukip surge hasn't reached the capital but Essex and kent are on message for them.

Find it amazing that the Conservatives and Liberals were absolutely decimated yet all the media can report on is the troubles of the Labour party

Martin, the party faithful are far to busy celebrating or drowning their sorrows to bother with us normal people.
On your second point Tory and Lib votes were down as expected while maybe Labour did not do as well as expected.

Tomorrow is the big day for telling the main partys how the public are thinking.

It is on Europe Vic, the Council elections are more of a pointer for the general election I would have thought.

Not so this is not only about the EU at this time but the whole setup and the way MPS when in power do not take any notice of what the public are saying .

contrary to what was thought ukip didn't eat into the red vote by very much and half that voted for them in the euros will go back to their usual party next may.

Amazing. Three out of four party leaders ignoring the evidence of their eyes and ears, and continuing to tell themselves and their disciples what they want to hear.

Martin, the council elections only took place in some parts of England and small part of Northern Ireland. In Kent only Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone held elections with a council by election in Gravesend..With council elections, sometimes the local factor comes into play, ie whatever party or councillors, if local voters think the local council is not performing well. They get voted out.The E.U election is UK wide, Scotland, Wales, England, N.Ireland and of course, 27 countries of the E.U using the P.R. voting method. The results tomorrow night and Monday morning should be interesting particularly Scotland, Netherlands, France, Germany and of course England and Wales.

Brian , read my post again. It said the results will be interesting! Nothing to do with chickens, hens, cocks or egg laying fowl.

In local elections you should always vote for the person, in the General Election you should nearly always vote for the party, an exceptional sitting MP can break that rule.
With the European elections it makes little difference who you vote for as we seem to be increasing dictated to by the rest of Europe.
I still believe UKIP get the protest vote much like the Libs and Greens did in previous years.
