I think you answer your own observations .
If , as you stay Starmer is bland , if gives you little it no choice at next election
There is no doubt Starmer will win , not on ability on popular .,or good policies believed in by all
But because Tories are so unpopular .

But I can still choose which "bland" version I prefer as the next PM so there is still a choice. An extremist could completely F things up for many years with some of their weird policies so I would never vote for a person like that.
I would be prepared to bet most leaders at any election I can remember are chosen because they were popular to the majority at the time, Johnson being a prime example.
