Odd times. The government doesn't appear to have any bandwidth to do anything other than COVID stuff, where Labour has taken a supportive role, but rightly challenges the current government incompetence. It's not a bad message to say we would do broadly similar, but do it much better.

Such hilarity, some say. And the Cap'n bleats about the weakness of the opposition. Well, what has the country really learned? Boris is not much good when it comes to a crisis. He didn't even bother with the first 5 COBRA meetings. Well, what a shock!

He bluffs, lies and blusters. Well, who would have guessed that from his past, eh?

He doesn't do detail. Well, f**k me. What a revelation that is.

He over promises and under delivers. So we haven't seen the thing off or wrestled it to the ground. We won't be back to normal by Christmas. Gosh. Quelle surprise!

He's someone who is great at making after dinner speeches to p**sed up business men but not the sort of chap who performs well when expected to make sober decisions in the face of all the complexities of a pandemic with a kindergarden cabinet selected not on ability but just loyalty to a flawed creed. A man without firm principles or a guiding coherent philosophy. Well, I'd never have guessed.

That's why there has been a complete reversal in the polls since April. And it will only get worse as winter approaches and the utter stupidity of what is looking increasingly like a no deal Brexit is forced upon us.

Keep on believing one and all.
