 - A letter from Bryan Henderson, a member of the Labour Party alleges that Reg is a political ally of Charlie Elphicke..The letter was published in todays' East Kent Mercury......Surely the on going scandal of the Rev. Flowers and the Labour Party cannot get any worse with this local news.

 - No - not true. Charlie is a Eurosceptic, perhaps not as sceptic (or should I say septic!1 - ) as you, but nevertheless you cannot describe him as a Europhile.

 - Surely not everyone fits snugly into a political party as if it were a Saville Row suit, there has to be ideologies where opposing factions can unite and agree. As for Reg he was the best Leader of the Labour group at DDC until he was usurped by those not fit to lick his boots and without an iota of his intellect.

 - What is this chap Henderson offering as evidence of this alleged political alliance? I can imagine Reg allying himself with Charlie on some issues they may have in common as I did when allying myself with Charlie to rid Dover of the previous MP, but I can't imagine Reg going as far as I did as my reasons were purely personal and like me I don't think Reg would abandon his socialist beliefs.

 - Reg is not a socialist

 The left in the UK have taken the soviet road where democracy and common good come second to party.

 The new breed that have detached them selves from the British working class to follow the party dogma .

 - There is a danger of this thread losing its way,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

 so let me briefly answer peter's question on others outside of the thread title.

 Ken Tranter;
 If you were a true socialist, there would be no way you could cross the floor to the conservatives, now Ken has to live with that, and I assume he is happy to do so.

 I don't have any gripe with Ken, in fact we could probably agree on some issues.

 but back to the thread title;

 Reg, is a true socialist, as is Bryan Henderson, the only difference meeting and working with both men over the years
 is that Reg works for the better of all, and if this means working with the MP of another party he will do so
 and any other political, or non political people.

 Bryan is an out and socialist who has a real hate for the conservatives, and doesnt choose to take the same route as Reg to achieve his aims.

 - If being a socialist means having a social conscience, then I do not believe that any Labour supporter/councillor/MP is socialist, because they don't actually and honestly support ordinary people; their plans always involve wasting other people's money and that won't help any one.
 A hand-up, more than a hand-out should be most important, although some support for some people will always be very necessary.
