One of the things the Labour Party were most proud of when fighting the last general election was the public's satisfaction with the National Health Service. The satisfaction figures scored an all time high as we can see in Reg's post above. This wasnt just a general easily acquired public relations satisfaction, it was a genuine one, after 13 years of Labour Government who as a rule I think it is fair to say always show a better committment to the NHS. They may have spent too much on it, but the public liked what they did.
I dont believe the new figures are mere perception based either because of all the talk about Lansley on TV, but are a real perception as noted by those many patients coming across daily.. an actual cut in traditional services.
The spin today suggests that these figures are good, showing an 8% above average...you may hear a lowly ranking minister saying similar on your news programmes tonight. But forget not while listening, that the figures are down from a record high.
