    Perhaps if we

    a) stopped subsidising the profits of major corporations through the use of the tax credit system to underpay their staff
    b) closed all the tax avoidance loopholes
    c) had a grown up conversation, rather than the childish one our politicians and media encourage, about the future of the NHS
    d) had a fact based conversation about where, when and who benefits should apply to and how much they should be

We might then have sufficient funds in the treasury to entertain sensible conversations around public sector pay, terms, conditions and pensions.

Or we could carry on with the "he says, she says" nonsense we have had for 20 years and get nowhere.
