Here comes that 'im on the left' tag again.
this belief realy does make me cringe.
today this tag has long gone, maggie started the road of dividing people, and to be fair this has carried on with govts since her day.
I would be interested to know what makes a person think they come from a 'left' thinking.?
With regard to the thread title, without doubt there are, and always will be differing views on the elite of this country.
It's also correct that barryw will always hold his right wing view point, and theres no problem with that.
but we do have differing views which makes this forum one for healthy discssion

So if there isnt a right (e.g. conservative, christian democrat), left (e.g.socialist, social democrat) divide then what is there?
Left and right are suitable tags to delineate ideological views and principals

The tag left/right have gone
there are a few of us real lefties still about, but viewpoints on the general issues i can be seen as ultra right wing on some issues ultra left on others,

What planet do you come from Keith? There was a divide in this country way before Mrs T - a left/right divide and an appalling them and us divide between the Unions and management. Is there anything that you and others on the left (yes, Ross is perfectly correct) will not try to ludicrously blame on Mrs T.

not a leader at all
of course hes not being he;lped by his own parties in fighting

Im not sure if this has been covered on one of the other threads but I see that Bob Diamond has fallen on his sword this morning. Diamond, once at the cutting edge of bigtime banking, will now find that his career will be clouded if not downright blighted by dodginess on the verge of criminality...there are calls for fraud charges to be brought. Someone made the point yesterday that a chap in the riots got 9 months in jail for stealing a bottle of water, yet doubts remain if ever any of these big time banking crooks who deal in millions will ever see criminal charges brought against them...'one law for them, another law for the rest of us' said the wag on television.
Banking really has a miserable reputation..the lowest of the low.It cant go lower. You would not buy a used Lamborghini from most of these guys...but they used to oooze respectability once, alas it was a thin veneer. We used to think second hand car dealers, estate agents or traffic wardens were villains but not any more...they are positively holy in comparison.
Conservative MP Claire Perry, a pleasant individual who I believe was a banker in a former life, but now of course an MP..said earlier
"Never has so much money been earned by so few for doing so little..."
This is so accurate..big salaries big bonuses wrapped up in a nonsense spin that you need to pay these salaries in order to secure the best...well its simply not the case, hundreds if not thousands could do the job.

Time was when the charge of 'Conspiracy' sent shivers through the underworld of petty and organised crime. This charge was used, to great effect, to rope-in many who connived to escape culpability.
I am, of course, talking merely of the 'lower-orders'...by way of 'Light-Relief'.

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

How the elite greedy pigs are kept in the life style they are accustomed to.
The finance sector spent £ 92 million lobbying politicians and law makers.which resulted in
slashing UK corporation tax and taxes on Banks overseas subsidiaries which saved the
finance industry Billions of pounds.
The neutering of National ``not for profit``pension scheme supposed to benefit the ``low paid,
part-time and temporary workers.
The killing of government plans for a new corporate super-watchdog to police quoted companies.
It could only happen with this government.

HSBC shame over cash for Drug Barons.
Bank allowed money to be laundered through offshore accounts.
A senior HSBC executive resigned yesterday as the Bank was subjected to a
humiliating onslaught from US senators.
Much of the laundered money ending up in the Cayman Islands.
The Senators report comes at a sensitive moment for British Banks following
Barclay`s fine in the Libor-interest rate scandal US politicians have become
increasingly critical of UK`s Financial Services Sector.
Our Finance Johnnies have a lot to answer for...

Trade Minister Lord Green has `serious questions`to answer over HSBC scandal.
Green was CEO of HSBC during 2003--2006 and their Chairman until 2010 when the
Coalition was formed.
This was the period Billions of dollars $ were moved around the `finance system` from
countries such as Iran,Syria and Mexico`s drug laundered money.
