Stone cold sober. Just very worried about what is happening in and to my country.
Read your history. The revolution always starts with 'reasonable' demands and always ends with the denunciations, the show trials and the prison camps.
Long hot summer coming up?
Be careful what you wish for ....

Bob
With Boris clearly out of control and very little leadership, he moves now to politics
Look at the virus
He started off saying its the scientist view (trying not to take blame)
It ended with a number of scientists clearly disagreeing with the road the govt was taking.
This Govt /party isn't Known for protecting the lower paid, and its been very difficult to be critical of him.
He looks awful under close scrutiny
And has clearly moved away from allowing scientists to speak.
Reducing police numbers then wondering why we are in a state of dispair on law and order.
The list goes on......

Gosh lots of "ifs, buts and maybes" in that piece from the Standard
I think you are being a tad melodramatic Cap'n, but I do share your concern at the simplistic solutions to complex historical problems being suggested by some groups.
Whilst some statues, like Colson's, probably ought to be removed, others like Baden Powell's (or Churchill's) ought to have additional materials/plaques putting their life and achievements into a proper context
Brian Dixon, Jan Higgins and Judith Roberts like this

What would you suggest to add on a plaque to go with those two statues in particular Ross that would put them in a proper context?

Ye Gods! Just turned on the radio to find J K Rowling is being savaged by the 'cocks in frocks' brigade.
Here's Alice Cooper. Enjoy a musical interlude while you still can ...

Farage has yet to comment on his departure but his LBC producer tweeted to say he had learned the news via social media. The LBC presenter James O’Brien tweeted: “We got our station back.”

IF HMG had any balls the next move for Farage would be to the House of Lords .
Like it or not he had more input into British Politics than anyone else over the past decade.
Meanwhile we've got Floella Benjamin and Stephen Lawrence's mum?

Farage in the Lords would be great. He couldn't do much damage there.
