 - You are not on my wave length Keith.I was drawing forum members attention to the fact DDC management team is to be reduced.Keith you have to have managers. You have this crazy idea about how much money they earn .If people study gain qualifications etc they become the bosses. You will always have people on higher salaries.
what’s it got to do with the Dover High Street.Read Bobs postings.

 - I think the point Keith was making is that high salary has to be justified and deserved by that person.

A qualification is useless if it is not used correctly it is just a piece of paper.

 - I think the Officers at DDC are worthy. You cannot blame Officers for the behaviour of some people as happened last weekend graphti everywhere.People who don’t clear up after dogs.,so it goes on.The problem with the shops in Dover they don’t sell what we need.Too many coffee shops and cheap shops.

 - I think Jan has picked up where I'm coming from
So let's get back to it
I have no problem with senior officers earning a basic wage and if they inspire Dover then increase wage
 But Dover is dieing
Unfortunately sue your party believes in let the market forces decide therefore we end up with the shops you quote
Although the cafes appear to be doing OK

And yes it does affect the town centre who the officers are

 - I thought we all agreed that a lot of traditional town centre shops cannot make a profit anymore and hospitality and service types of businesses will take their place. As Keef says cafes all seem to do well. - Jan Higgins and Paul M like this

 - There is zero causal link between officers pay and the economic fortunes of any given place

Officers are not paid to inspire, they are paid to deliver the ruling parties policies and underlying statutory requirements, the fact that many officers go beyond this is laudable and should be recognised.

It is the role of our elected members to inspire, show leadership, show sound judgement etc.

I will leave you to join the dots and work out who is really failing towns and districts like Dover
