Correct, and exactly the same has been said against (for example) the RNLI, however, having spent most of my life in the 'public services', I suspect that in most cases if 'the Gummint' provided many of the services covered by charities, the cost would be twice as high and the results half as effective?
There are, of course, exceptions to this!

I think people must be leaving Christmas shopping later this year judging by the lack of people in the town day time recently. I was in Morrison's this morning and was out in no time, normally in the two weeks before people have trolley loads of stuff that should keep them going until Summer.

Pick Me Up magazine attempts to redefine the real life sector, offering more real life stories in a more accessible and entertaining way. Pick Me Up wants to break new ground in its fresh and modern design. A woman's weekly magazine.
A real hoot for people of the female persuasion then, and obviously more educational than endless articles on makeup and defeating/concealing the ageing process.

Looks too high brow for my taste, talking of which none of our more sophisticated members have drawn attention to the annual yule tide lights display in Hawthorne Close, River.

I don't know about pick me up, that looks more likely to send you into deep depression.

Peace on Earth? I must have missed this on the TV news. Looks like those loveable Mohammedans are evangelising for their Region of 'Peace again!
Coming soon to a Carol Service near you?

Not much to come over the holiday on the telly from what I have read but I thought this was brilliant. Further episodes tonight and tomorrow.

I notice that Marks and Spencer have reduced prices by 50% on their gift sets which must be rather galling for those who shopped earlier. Normally they don't do this until after the holiday.

So if still in its 'as bought' state, you take it back, get refunded and buy it again...

Well so far this has been the biggest laugh of Christmas!
http://www.kentlive.news/news/kent-news/kent-woman-reported-vile-poundland-963449
The 'Kent woman' is actually a lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church Uni
And her complaint originally went to Kent State Police in the USA
Twinings have distanced themselves from the campaign
And tonight Poundland said " We're proud of a campaign that's only cost £25.53 and is being touted as the winning marketing campaign this Xmas"
And carries on as though nothing has happened!
