  But wait. Look back to Laughing Boy being interviewed by Nick Ferrari on LBC a year ago. There's a clip of it doing the rounds at the moment on t'internet. He 'absolutely guarantees' that we won't leave without a deal. Now we have the pathetic backtracking of Tory bigwigs, quite happy to perjure themselves, coming on to the news channels to say that the oven ready deal in fact referred to the withdrawal agreement.
  
  These are the same people who tried to convince us that Cummings really did drive to Barnard Castle in order to test his eyesight.
  
  Did anyone listen to Laughing Boy's implied celebration of an Australian style agreement last night? Oh how he emphasised the word 'Australian' as if it were a major triumph of his leadership. He may as well have used the adjective 'Mongolian' or 'Yemeni'. They would mean the same thing - no deal. And how ironic that Malcolm Turnbull should be a guest on last night's QT effectively saying that no deal was the worst solution and that Australia was desperate to conclude a free trade deal with the EU. Why wouldn't they? It is the world's largest and most successful trading block.
  
  So did he secretly want a no deal all along? I think he was put where he is by a party who want Brexit at any cost. Why else would they sacrifice so many good, competent people and be prepared to face the criticisms of politicians like Ken Clarke, John Major and Heseltine? The Tory party is now so far to the right that they will force through their Brexit path at any cost to the country.
  
  We may lament the concreting over of Guston but the damage will go far beyond that. Gullibilty and ideological dogma have got us to where we are. It's always easier to con someone than to convince them that have been conned afterwards.
