Absolutely, but paperless and why not even cardless surely? We already have retina scans and fingerprint technology in regular use (the latter to debit the parent's account with the cost of the child's school meal, for example), so why not spitoons in conjunction with a DNA database? One gob at the border to identify you provides spin-off advantages, such as cross-matching against whatever Nicky Alexander has discovered this week, healthcare advice and so on: "Welcome to the UK, Miss, sorry about your cold but we understand congratulations are in order."
