    What has that to do with the government or the Conservatives? Define what exactly is included in 'bankers'.... What does the 35% actually refer to? Is it the partly nationalised banks or all banks? The government is not and should not be involved in the remuneration decisions of private businesses.

    I suspect that if you analyse the breakdown of figures a very different story emerges from what this idiotic picture is trying to convey. In fact - I do know the answer...

    A large part of that 'rise' is due to the increase in share prices over a period of a couple of years. A few years ago due to public pressure a lot of cash bonuses were pushed into bank shares, these shares have since done well and those who received them will have benefited accordingly.

    Bear in mind as well those share based bonuses represented a risk cash bonuses do not - they are reaping the benefit of taking that risk.

    Good for them and just think of the extra tax revenue that will result as CGT etc......
