Hmm, a different slant on getting a dose of thrush then Howard?

you would not joke sid, if you witnessed the bloodshed.
it is horrible.
Howard, I've spent time in the slaughter house at Dunmow Flitch bacon factory, where they sliced open live pigs after hanging them up by the back legs. Brutal stuff believe me. A bird getting squished means nowt, sorry.

Sid

that really does sound brutal.
I still think that mankind does more damage to wildlife than any other critter.
Springwatch back next week. Chris Packham always has some interesting if controversial opinions, about conservation.
I'd put Kwiss Packham and Jonathan Woss in a room and challenge them to do the 3 r's!

Jeane, it was more than brutal, gut-wrenching would be accurate, but I still enjoy pork.

A reason I won`t touch goods made in the Phillipines. The evil, primitive side of our species. Some of you will know that they eat dogs after they suffer a painful death which supposedly makes the meat taste better. I`ll say no more.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

My dear old chap ...you have the Philippines mixed up with Thailand, China and other non-Christian asian countries where dogs are bred in captivity and harvested for the dining table.
My wifes mother breeds pigs and in comparison to the appalling conditions that pigs suffer in this country theirs by contrast are fully organic free to roam and only fed food scraps. They are not pumped full of steriod loaded pellets. The pigs are an important(and wealthy part) of the family and are therefore treated with respect.
When it comes time for their slaughter the older generation gather to pay their respects to the pig before it meets its maker. On a final point not one part of the pig is wasted not even the ears, trotters etc.
I know all this as a fact as one pig was slaughtered in my honour when I visited the Phils for Christmas a couple of years ago.
All the cheap chicken you buy from Iceland stores originates from Thailand which has appalling records and continous outbreaks of bird flu (flew).lol I never buy from Iceland.

I never buy frozen chicken, full stop. It's pumped full of water to bolster the weight (and it's sold by weight) and much of it prepared in extremely insanitary conditions.

Marek, I got the above info from a poster inside a copy of the Big Issue a short while back mate. It distinctly said The Phillipines I`m sure. I know those countries you mention above are equally evil in their habits. Too much info for here, but on the internet and youtube for all to see.

Howard there also used to be a Dunmow Flitch Bacon Company, but alas, no more.

i thought the same as you colin, maybe we are both wrong.
i know that the vietnamese and malaysians have some disgusting habits regarding treatment of their dinner, by our way of thinking.
i remember our old friend from the box jeremy clarkson doing a spot at the motor show, upon reaching the malaysian stand and finding it unattended commented "they must have all gone for a dog sandwich".
our deputy mayor, mr david hammond, made a similar remark at an event allegedly.
I think he said "there are plenty of dogs in Dover" Howard.

As one of my recent pictures show, one dog in Dover has already lost a leg.

Sad news to impart. The Thrush that Colin rescued from the Magpie in his garden died on Friday afternoon; Beryl reported that it had been eating and drinking OK but never seemed particularly lively. She and I both attributed it to the trauma suffered in the attack, but then on Friday it (literally) keeled over and died. We think it must been akin to a heart attack.
Thanks to Colin for trying, though, and to Beryl too. Sad that it couldn't be saved.
