Helloooooo Paul
Wind more than a bit frightening up here in my tail end high riser. I started doing the pictures on the frontpage at 5am as there was a lot to do. The building was moving..yet again.....example: the water in the toilet bowl was sloshing about..how re-assuring is that !! aaarrrrgh!!

According to the local BBC TV weather gusts reached 74mph, not looking forward to my journey to work in the wind and rain.
Can I pull a sicky?????????????

This lump of scaffolding came down overnight in the notorious DeBurgh/Widred alleyway.

I have just driven from Dover to Essex setting off even earlier than usual and I am still later than usual - it was scary, people! Lorries not slowing down, cars aquaplaning, spray miles high, eejits speeding. I say that again: eejits speeding. In this weather!! It was a hairy scary drive............

That sounds tough Bern..wouldnt fancy that drive.
My brother one time years ago used to be with Lloyds of London Terry and he said the highest level of claims used to come from people hit by falling scaffolding or things falling from scaffolding...steer clear.
Here is a picture of the gloomy looking seafront a few minutes ago..looking very miserable...the aftermath
The waves were thundering right across the seafront road last night, powering over the outer harbour walls too and particularly high over on the western arm...if it was daytime there would have been spectacular photos to be had. Most of the beach is up on the seafront promenade again.

Stay safe Bern.
A large tree down in Barton road.
I had a lunatic of a Robin singing out the back all night.

grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet.

Ian, I'll swap your Robin for the large rat the cat brought in this morning and plonked on the kitchen floor. I hate rats so it will stay there for someone else to dispose of.

The storm knocked out the power on my computer so I am on my I pad, it also killed a lot of our garden furniture. It's a lovely morning though!

sounds rather a harrowing night, judging by comments and pics from paulb, bern, terry and others.
true to form i slept all through it.
had a look down the seafront earlier, no visible damage other than some of the beach relocating to the promenade as paul said earlier.
not that windy but the sea looked very rough.

must have been very stormy last night, apparently this mattress was taken by the wind and ended up on the pavement in folkestone road.
hopefully the occupant is o.k.

Did anybody lose their satellite dish some time last night? If so I have put it out the front.

We have that huge crane boom continually swinging around over the roof, logic says it is completely safe but I wish it was only over the actual building site.
