I rather liked this line in the Evening Standard's article on the subject: 'The Port of Dover has spent £40 million on its new facilities, which has required them to reclaim wetlands'.
I didn't think that PoD's press release,
https://www.portofdover.com/press-releases/port-of-dover-is-ready-for-the-phased-introduction-of-eu-entry-exit-system/, read terribly well, but you'll be pleased to note that "The Port of Dover is closing the gap every day between the UK and the world by connecting trade, travel, visitors and communities locally-globally, collaborating with local and international partners to create a more seamless, sustainable and tech-enabled port." I suspect that means that they get people and goods on and off boats, but I could be wrong.
