i have scrolled through the list of candidates for the forthcoming district council elections and there are no ukip candidates.
vic is there but nothing next to his name.
maybe they have chosen to bypass the dull democratic process and instead will take power by brute force on the morning of may 6?
we will have to wait and see who heads the junta.

understand howard although across the country UKIP are fighting local elections
here in Dover for an unknown reason they have a policy not to fight local elections.
but sure vic will tell us more

Very interesting Howard. I dont know whats happening there but I suspect it is something to do with UKIP being a one issue party..ie..the EU. As the EU is unlikely to feature much in the local elections perhaps they didnt relish standing.
Try as they might to convince us otherwise UKIP are just a one issue Party. Nigel Farage was on TV yet again a few days ago, and he started banging on about the EU. The commentator, I think it was Jon Soppel, accused him, thats dear ol Nigel, of being a one issue party and he denied it.
Soppel.."there you are bangin on about the EU again..youre just a one issue party" says Soppel. Nigel smiles and blusters onwards..
Perhaps brute forcce is the best route, spurred on by revolutions in Libya, Yemen, Ivory Coast etc...however I have the feeling they may not get the UN resolution to qualify them for NATO air support

Keith,
That hasn't been the case in the past, here in Lydden we had Vic at the last by-election and Arthur Norton at the 2007 DDC election as official UKIP candidates.

I can not add much more only to say I was out voted on if we should stand as UKIP,But it would mean the same anyway just me standing.
We have agood number in members and avery good committee. But we are finding it hard to get new faces to stand in the locals, also we do not have much funding to play with.

So is Vic a UKIP candidate in hiding or an independent financed by UKIP?

RAY
Theres the confirmation by vic himself
UKIP as paulb says the one policy party
vic must be very dissappointed
means he won't have a party financing his leaflets etc so he will have to target the few he does.
and vics now independent of what? the ukip party?

Mr Newsam that is not the case.
I am standing just as Vic Matcham, with no funding coming from anywhere, but I am still Chairman of UKIP in Dover.
You can read into that anyway you like ,thank you for your post. I hope it is clear now.

Not so Mr Newsam I think it was down to funding, we would have had to fund it all with what cash we have. but we might need that later on if a Gen/Election is called.

Again I have not been let down by the party and Paul it is still on the cards a visit From Mr Farage,I will not be departing from UKIP ,but funding is very hard to fine and as I said we need to build the pot up again.

howard/kieth,dover is to close to europe, apart from that they [ukip] might get there feet wet chasing the frenchies of our beach.

I am finding it hard to keep up with this one post following the other.
Again Keith that is not the case, for the forth time I write this"At Local Level,we in UKIP are effectively independent and can therefore put forward your views instead of having them"shot down" by the party machine.

Can someone enlighten me please? If a prospective councillor stands in support of his party, can he then change the party he supports after being elected? If the answer is yes I take it this means VM can become a UKIP cllr after he's (God forbid!) elected?

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

any councillor or even m.p. can change allegiance whenever they like.
not really a problem here though, the seats that vic has taken are all in parishes where there are no political parties sitting.
it is just a matter of vic and the others working together for the benefit of the locality.
