I knew I had seen those red panels on a pub and the other thread meant The Golden Lion was one of the first ones I considered. I didn't know about the "party" though.

I think I know where but not the name,at the far end ,I think you turn right which will bring you by the old bks,and onto the Dover and Deal rd,Or you carry on and come to Mill hill.

Well it was a pub crawl around Broadstairs Paul, I might have been a bit confused as to the correct location when I got there. I managed to get the train back however.
