Thorium will see the end of fossil fuels but not in our lifetime.
I think I've posted this before, I once found data for a debate on nuclear fuels which showed that with the low concentration of radioactivity in fossil fuels combined with the massive amounts that are used in a coal fired power station, they put out more radioactivity in their lifetime than is contained in the average nuclear station

Well.Well.Well
A letter submitted to a national paper 21st May 2011.
The Government actions on Green issues are worrying. They tried to sell our trees to Logging Companies!!
Mr Cameron latest plan is obtain Gas trapped in hard rock shall deposits in UK by` Fracking`the rock.
Fracking requires blasting the rock with one to seven million gallons of water mixed with 596 chemicals to break up the rock into thousands of pieces to release the gas.Problem is only half of the water comes back up thereby contaminating the water below ground the air and climate. The waste water contains 29 chemicals known to cause cancer including methanol, benezine, sulphuric acid and lead. The process releases so much methane ( most potent warming gas ) that it causes 48 per cent more damage to the climate than uncleaned coal.A process exists to clean coal.
The government must`U` turn again and think clean coal instead of causing a Fracking mess.
Coal will have to be used one day!!
NB.Thanks to Mrs.Thatcher East Kent has millions of tonnes of Coal insitu
Mr Cameron`s plan to drill for natural shall gas in the UK is on an environmental disaster course and has hit another set back.Drilling has been suspended near Blackpool due to two earthquakes of 1.5 and 2.5 magnitude in the same area and at the same depth of the drilling operations. Similar drilling in France and America have had same results and with the fear of water tables being contaminated have been banned.
Environmentalists are hoping Mr.Cameron will make another `U` turn adding to the increasing list of other ill conceived policy decisions.
NB. A planning application has been submitted to KCC to drill a test bore hole on a potential Shall Gas deposit in Woognesborough a site near Sandwich.
