  I must say that I was surprised that the vote was conducted in public as it meant there was no debate, having a debate on such a thing would be inappropriate in public given that it could effect on peoples feelings. The first some of us saw of the nominations was at the meeting although it was clear that one of the political groupings had discussed it at one of their meetings outside of council. In my own opinion the nominations should have been discussed at a closed meeting of the full council prior to the public vote - unfortunately this was not the case.
  
  By the way, I did vote in favour of Lord Boyce, as I did for Lynn Young. I voted against Mr Leggit only because of another pending award.
