Latest news from the Daily Express: a campaign is under way to include in the referendum in May a referendum on the EU. If this goes through, we might be out of it sooner than we think!

Let's hope so.
If we do have a referendum on the EU, then we best know all the facts and figures on the benefits of membership - I ask you once again Brian, can you supply the facts and figures on the benefits to the UK on membership of the EU ? If you can't remember them all, just the first ten that spring to mind - for my part, I can't think of one.

it would be fantasy to imagine such a referendum at any time in the next few years let alone in under 2 months.
i think roger is right that the only way we will get a full debate on the pros and cons of membership is if a referendum was being seriously considered.

Brian, an Angus Reid poll from 6 December 2010 shows that 48% of Britons would vote for leaving the EU, and 27% for staying in.
A recent YouGov poll has established that 47% of Britons would vote for leaving the EU, 33% for remaining.
An EU poll has found that 27% of Britons are for staying in the EU.
