3 September 2012 06:44189622just caught it for a few seconds doing a salute near dover castle,all so saw the biplane.but must say there was a lot of low flying aircraft flying over dover at the weekend. - 3 September 2012 06:48189624Well this one caused a stir and I actually managed to get some pictures of it yesterday as it passed over. I see Pauls picture above was taken on an earlier occasion.
Suddenly in the quiet late afternoon of a sleepy sunday, this great beast was thundering towards the harbour..well I couldnt believe it, I panicked as you do..grappled for camera and hoped it would fire up ok, its a slow starter. Got one pic as it thundered across the harbour then ran to other side of flat and got one as it departed over the castle.
Am loading them on the frontpage as i write....
wot a sight...never a dull moment around here.

I've never seen one before, it was such a thrilling shock for it to suddenly appear out of the blue, I mean its the stuff of legend isnt it....an instrument of those dangerous cold war times.

One thing puzzled me though- why is it camouflaged underneath? - surely it should be sky colour? Camo on the undernearth is only any good when you are upside down in a field and by then it doesnt really matter!
