just switched on a news channel and saw this wonderful picture of this trouble maker in iceland.
i must admit to laughing at the thought that after all of the wonderful achievements of man and some women, leading up to this incredible technology, that such a basic thing, been around for many thousands of years, maybe millions, can hold us all to ransom.
it seems to have a sense of humour, disrupts european aviation for a week, goes quiet until everyone thinks that normality returns, then bingo off it goes again.

They`ve been around for billions of years Howard, and isn`t it nice to know that mother nature still has control of the planet. Eruptions can be difficult to predict, even with all the latest measuring instruments. Not so easy to blame volcanologists like it is weathermen.

i believe that our lady mayor is a pagan, you can understand it when things like this happen.
religious people will say that it is gods will, pagans will say mother nature.
we will not find out the truth until we kick the bucket.

If it`s gods Howard, why the hell don`t they get them to erupt in the middle east?

Not much to debate here Brian. The composition of the planet is mostly well understood. It`s a very large and complicated subject, much too much to discuss on the forum, as there`such a diversity of things. The middle east suffers alot of earthquakes, like other parts of the world, all down to faults in the Earth`s crust, (not gods), and then you can go onto the subject of the Earth`s lithosphere on which a number of major tectonic plates ride together with other smaller one`s, creating mountain ranges and new oceans and seas in the process. I`m sure you`ll find much more on the internet. Going back to volcano`s, they also exist on other planet`s, and moons within our solar system. Great and interesting stuff. No human or other intervention required. Even the church recognises much of this now.

islam recognises the old and new testaments and goes along with it, the same as christianity.
the difference is that they have the "koran/quoran) which to them is an add on, the final testament.
christians and muslims worship the same being.
What, Wayne Rooney?

According to government statistics...when the volcano closed the airspace over the UK it did more to stop the influx of illegal immigrants arriving than their policies of the previous 13 years..

expect more disruption from the volcano, along with the ba walkouts.and then attach that to the rumored walkouts from the public sector =a total standstill.

Very patriotic I don't think. I hope they all lose their jobs; don't they comprehend the magnitude of the problems we as a nation face?
Incidentally, the aviation industry does NOT support this action by UNITE, so there will be no shortgae of strike breakers. I seem to recall the NUS making the same mistake here some years ago.

Yes Brian, so wouldn't think others would tread a little more carefully. A tough word in the ear of the mad Irishman from DC/NC might be helpful too.
