Visit Megger’s FREE OPEN DAY Saturday 12th November, 10am – 3pm

Local electronics company Megger, one of Dover’s larger employers is celebrating 50 years of manufacturing in the town with an Open Day on Saturday, 12 November 2016.

The company designs and manufactures portable test and measurement instruments that perform electrical measurements.

Local electronics company Megger, originally called AVO and still known by many locals as “AVO’s”, opened the Dover site in 1966. We have grown to become a world leader in electrical testing with offices and technical all over the world.

To mark its 50th anniversary in Dover, Megger is providing a unique opportunity for people to visit their factory on Saturday, 12 November (10am-3pm). As well as guided tours of the factory, there will be information on apprenticeships, student placements, and job opportunities in electrical, mechanical and software engineering.

Megger would like to invite you to our event.

PORT OPERATIONS

Notice to Mariners 52/16

Western Docks Firework Display 4/11/2016

Mariners are advised that on the evening of November 4 2016 the Port will be

hosting a firework display.

The event will commence at 1900 and is expected to last for approximately 8

minutes. The fireworks will be launched from the pad at the Eastern end of CT2.

During the display and for periods of 5 minutes either side, Port Control will close the

Western entrance to all shipping and deploy the Harbour Patrol Launch to assist in

vessel traffic management.

Any news of the Christmas lights switch on? I only ask as I read that Banbury have banned D list celebs from switching on theirs. They feel that minor cast members of Coronation Street et al might foil their bid to look upmarket!

Well done to Banbury.

I love Banbury a lovely little town with great small shops together with a excellent shopping mall right in the town, something that would have been just right for St James.

As the panto will already be taking place by date of " Christmas Cheer" on 3/12/16 will not be Marlowe actors. Local businesses prefer event to be in December; and event is always well supported by local residents.
the Tudor Festival was well supported by businesses (for example dressing up )and good example of working with Town council and Christmas Cheer is another.

I do believe electrical sockets were fixed to street lights to connect the Christmas lights to. At a price of £24,000, one sincerely hopes the words "washing lines" will be totally inappropriate. We wait and anticipate a spectacle equal to the costs for our children and visitors to marvel at.

Years ago i attended a christmas light switch on where the celebrity was somebody who had done a voiceover to a carpet commercial in the 1980s.Now thats what you call D-list.
