funny you should say that. when i was a kid and china was very secretive, a bloke from the foreign office, referring to a thaw in tensions between the west and china said "there appears to be a chink in the bamboo curtain".
i was waiting for the interviewer to add "i thought there was a billion".
this was before political correctness came in.

Thanks Phil.
We have just watched the International Space Station go over.
First time either of us have seen it.
Perfect viewing conditions and it was very bright.

Thanks for the positive feedback, and I'm glad you saw it Ed. I'll endeavour to keep you all updated of flybys in the future.

Took the wife and daughter into the garden to watch the fly past tonight. Once the ISS came into view it was like firework night in terms of the reaction, much excitement indeed.
It's quite odd really how one can be so impressed with something silent, swift and bright.

Read Phil's message at 2130 and raced outside to view a perfect pass. I am onboard the Maersk Dover and we are just getting over to the French coast. Sky overhead deep blue and cloudless with Dover on the horizon topped by black coastal clouds. ISS came over as a brilliant white spot moving comparatively fast directly over the ship. Thanks again Phil, third time I have caught it now. Pointed it out to our French reception supervisor Isabel and she was gobstruck as well.
We saw it again tonight too, thanks Phil. Took three photos with t h Lumix G1 and, only one appears to have caught it. I will post it on here tomorrow.

Yes I saw it too and for the very first time...so well done Phil for giving us all the nod. I even ventured out onto a chilly balcony to wait for it. Its an awesome sight though, makes you think.

Thank you from me too Phil. Lovely clear sky last night.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

13:3179261Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
