U.F.O. Over River
- 17 September 2009 21:3229094Did you see the write up today of a Orange U.F.O. over River, you can read about it in the Dover Express it goes on to say it was moving very fast across the sky and was noiseless,well I can now tell you all, some of you will feel sorry about this,but it was not a U.F.O.after all,no sir, that night the wind was up and blowing
And I must tell you now,wait for it,it was SUEs NEW HAT,Yes folks that is what is was, 
Sue is still looking for it last seen over Ashford still in the air.

Roger - 18 September 2009 08:1329116Yes we love the eccentricity. Maybe that lady with the orange hat found it in her garden carried there by the wind straight from Dover. After all it was an orange beacon in the sky..who's to say it wasnt her hat.
However there is a serious problem with UFo's around these parts and its not to be sniffed at. Didnt Phil photograph one over the castle..and I myself, one dark night on a lonely beach nearby, saw something I'd never seen before in the dead of night, not from this particular beach vantage point anyway. First there was a throbbing sound, then a whining sound, ...I thought first of all it was someone having a row with his wife as wives generally do a lot of whining...then that awful rancid smell (diesel?), then I saw it...it was the 23 40 ferry to Calais!
Although what I was doing on a strange beach around midnight Im not prepared to discuss!

Roger - 20 September 2009 20:0029195I used to be the official illustrator for BUFORA (British UFO Research Association) under the guidance of UFO guru Philip Mantle (Google him), and he always reminded me that the "U" in UFO means "unidentified", not "alien". This was always my working guideline when doing the work I did. I always remember a terrific story about a person who reported a UFO landed in a field. The witness saw the craft, which was very clearly an alien craft. That means that the UFO was NOT "unidentified" any longer as he had successfully identified it. What's more, it was landed, not flying, so the "F" in UFO was also irrelevant. So, in the end, the man was merely reporting that he saw an Object in the field.

Roger - 21 September 2009 20:0029214I can't fully recollect the quote from Bill Bryson but, in his book on Science, he wrote that the intelligence, the technology and the skills that would be required to get life from the far distances of the universe to Earth over periods of light years are so unimaginable that to believe that alien life forms would come all this way to make circles in the corn in Wiltshire or Wyoming is beyond a joke.
He wrote it better than this but you get the gist!

Indeed Im sure you are right Mark, why ride all the way here to make crop circles in a shropshire field. But thats just the point..this is where true advanced thinking kicks in, they didnt come to make circles at all.. these 'circles' are in fact the bases of the stanchions that support the craft proper. These are quite large these stanchions, generally, and keep the craft well off the ground so that you get no singeing on the surface when it takes off. Lets face it, and calculations prove this, that the amount of energy used to catapult the space vehicle onto Uranus and beyond would be quite substantial.
